Andrew MacKillop
Senior Lecturer in Scottish History, School of Humanities, College of Arts
Andrew explores the role of Scotland and Ireland within British imperialism, more particularly in Asia, before c.1830. This research involves understanding how colonialism was a constitutive element in the making of modern Scotland, including its economy, social order, its systems of university education, and embedded racialised attitudes towards other cultures and peoples.
His latest publications include: Human Capital and Empire: Scotland, Ireland, Wales and British Imperialism in Asia c. 1690-c.1820 (Manchester, 2021)
