Learning and Teaching Committee Remit
Role
To advise the Education Policy & Strategy Committee on strategic and related resource matters concerning the University’s learning and teaching activities.
Remit
To ensure the University benefits from sector-leading learning and teaching through:
- the provision of expertise in learning, teaching and assessment and development of scholarship;
- recommending and facilitating the implementation of innovation that enhances the student experience through excellent undergraduate and taught postgraduate taught provision that:
- is attractive and retains students with talent and potential regardless of background;
- promotes employability; and
- is effective, sustainable and efficient
- actively monitoring related sector and technological developments;
- developing the Learning & Teaching Strategy and related strategies (including those for the National Student Survey and Virtual Learning Environment);
- working with Colleges in developing and delivering Learning & Teaching plans that are mutually aligned with the University Learning & Teaching Strategy;
- delivery of key elements of the Learning & Teaching Strategy;
- development and delivery of the University's Learning & Teaching Strategy Action Plan;
- oversight of the University’s professional development programmes and the development of policy and provision for the development of staff expertise in learning, teaching, and assessment;
- administering the Learning & Teaching Development Fund;
- establishing working groups to deliver specific aspects of its remit;
- ensuring appropriate alignment with the World Changing Glasgow Transformation Programme;
- ensuring appropriate alignment with University strategies for the promotion of the co-curricular aspects of the student experience.

- The Deans for Learning & Teaching
- Three representatives from each College covering both undergraduate and taught postgraduate provision (appointed on an annual basis to facilitate the propagation of expertise)
- Director of the Learning Enhancement & Academic Development Service
- Director of Short Courses
- Representative from Information Services
- Representative from Careers
- Academic Lead, WCG Transformation Programme
- Students' Representative Council Vice-President (Education) and four College representatives
- The Conveners of Committee working groups if not already members
Note: Members are individually and collectively responsible for the fulfilling of the Committee's remit on behalf of the University and are not appointed as delegates for their College or School.
