Degree of Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering (Graduate Apprenticeship)
RESOLUTION
The Degree of Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering (Graduate Apprenticeship) is governed by Resolutions of the University Court. The provisions of Resolution No. 582 supporting the Generic Undergraduate Regulations are set out with those regulations. The provisions of Resolution No. 688 are as follows:
1. The Degree of Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Software Engineering (Graduate Apprenticeship) may be awarded by the Senate of the University of Glasgow in the College of Science and Engineering (the College) as a Degree with Honours, and as a General Degree in such designations as may be prescribed by Regulation.
2. The award of the Degree shall be governed by Resolution No. 582 - “Generic Regulations for the award of Degrees gained by the successful completion of Undergraduate Programmes together with such Supplementary Regulations as are contained in this Resolution No. 688 - “Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering (Graduate Apprenticeship)”. The Supplementary Regulations are set out in the Schedule of Regulations attached to this Resolution.
3. The early exit awards of Certificate of Higher Education and Diploma of Higher Education are also included in the Regulations.
REGULATIONS
1. Recognition of Prior Learning
Recognised prior learning cannot normally be counted for credit on this degree programme.
2. Registration
To remain registered on the degree programme a candidate must be employed under a contract of employment with a partner employer.
3. Maximum Period of Study
The maximum period of study is normally five years of full-time study.
4. Progress
4.1 Generic Undergraduate Regulations §10 and §11 apply with the following additional requirements:
In order to progress after one session, the normal requirements are that the candidate must have obtained 120 credits at level 1 with:
a) no more than 20 credits at less than D3; and
b) all credits at grade E3 or above.
In order to progress from Junior Honours to Senior Honours a candidate must have obtained 120 credits in third year courses with:
a) no more than 20 credits at less than D3; and
b) all credits at grade E3 or above.
4.2 Entry to Honours
Generic Undergraduate Regulation §15 applies with the following additional requirements:
In order to be admitted to Honours a candidate must have obtained 120 credits at level 2 with:
a) all level 2 credits at D3 or above; andb) a level 2 grade point average of at least 12.0.
5. Requirements for the Award of the Degree of Bachelor of Science with Honours
Generic Undergraduate Regulation §16 applies with the following additional requirements:
In order to graduate, a candidate must:
a) have achieved grade E3 or above in all courses in the final year;
b) have achieved grade D3 or above in at least 100 credits in the final year.
The calculation of the final BSc Honours classification is based on a contribution of 60% from final year courses and 40% from third year courses where these courses are of equal credit rating.
6. Courses Available to Candidates
The available courses are set out in the programme specification for the degree programme. A candidate is required to complete courses comprising on-campus study and work-based learning carried out through a contract of employment with a partner employer.
