Technical information about this website’s accessibility
The University of Glasgow is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.
- Some pages do not contain a heading, skip link, or landmark region which means it lacks ways to bypass repetitive content which fails WCAG Success Criterion 2.4.1 Bypass Blocks.
- Some pages do not specify a lang attribute, therefore a screen reader assumes the page is in the default language the user chose when setting up the reader. This may cause the reader to announce the page’s text incorrectly which fails WCAG Success Criterion 3.1.1 Language of Page.
- Images displayed on pages do not have alt attributes which means screen readers cannot describe them which fails WCAG Success Criterion 1.1.1 Non-text Content.
- Some links do not have a discernible unique name which would help improve the navigation experience for screen reader users which fails WCAG Success Criterion 2.4.4 Link Purpose (In Context).
- Form elements do not have associated labels which means anyone using a screen reader may not be able to use the form as easily as they should. This fails WCAG success criterion 3.3.2 Labels and Instructions.
- Tabindex is not set on elements. This can cause problems with users navigating a screen which fails WCAG Success Criterion 2.4.3 Focus Order.
What we’re doing to improve accessibility
In addition to the above testing, we release changes on a regular basis which may include accessibility fixes identified by you or us. All new developments will be tested for accessibility.
