Many of our older PDFs, PowerPoint and Word documents don’t meet accessibility standards: for example, they may not be marked up so they’re accessible to a screen reader.

EdShare contains some third-party content and extensions that we may be unable to influence.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

We plan to add text alternatives for all images by Autumn 2024. When we publish new content we’ll make sure our use of images meets accessibility standards.

EdShare runs on the open source software EPrints version 3.4 and has been customised for our own requirements and branding. The EPrints Accessibility information pages shows how and when EPrints plan to improve accessibility with their software releases: EPrints accessibility roadmap.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on 24 November 2020. It was last reviewed on 19 August 2024.

EdShare is tested annually using a quality assurance tool to identify accessibility issues.

EdShare was last tested in September 2020. The test was carried out by the University of Glasgow’s Information Services Web Team and assessed against the WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines.
