Action required: All BRP holders must change to eVisas
Published: 15 November 2024
The UK government are creating a digital immigration system. This means they are replacing physical documents like BRPs with an online record of your immigration status which is called an eVisa. To get an eVisa, you must take action.
If you have a BRP expiring on 31st December 2024, but your overall visa permission is longer than this, you must take action now:
- Register for your eVisa if you have not done so already.
- Generate a share code and submit it to our form on the UofG Helpdesk. This will allow the Immigration Compliance Team to have your full visa details on record.
If you already have an eVisa, then this change will not affect you and you don’t need to do anything, but please remember to regularly view your visa at the UKVI website.
Once your eVisa is ready to view what Yyou need to do as well if you used your BRP to set it up, is to update your UKVI account with your passport details here, this is where you can do this.
You can watch a video explaining what an eVisa is. There is also useful information on eVisas and why you need one on the UKVI eVisa webpage.
If you haven't set up your eVisa by Monday 2nd December our team or the Immigration Compliance team might not be able to help you further with the set up process. So please do email us at internationalstudentsupport@glasgow.ac.uk if you are having issues creating the eVisa or are not able to view it as well.
You can ask questions to UKVI directly about the eVisa process as well by using their eVisa Webchat.
