CAS Guide for Undergraduate Students
As you prepare for your studies, make sure to get your Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS) in time to apply for your visa.
CAS is an online document issued by the University through UK Visas and Immigration. It includes your details, course information, and study offer. You'll need a valid CAS to apply for a Student visa, either in the UK or abroad, you'll enter CAS details into your visa application form.
Receiving your CAS
If you have a conditional offer:
- Upload all required documents (including a current passport).
- Once approved, wait for an unconditional offer (can take 5-10 working days).
- Accept your offer via UCAS Track.
If you have an unconditional offer:
- Accept your offer via UCAS Track.
- Make sure your passport is uploaded.
- Your CAS will be ready within five working days if you accept from 8 June onwards.
Applicant Self-Service
If you need a visa, you'll be able to view, approve and request changes to you CAS draft through Applicant Self-Service.
Check Applicant Self-Service for any missing information or documents to speed up the process. See our Applicant Approval Guide for details on the information provided within each section of your CAS.
Once you approve the draft, your CAS number will be sent by email within three working days. If changes are requested, your CAS number will be sent within five working days after updates.
Qualification Check
If needed, you may be asked to verify your qualifications. You'll get an email with instructions on how to complete the process through our partner, Qualification Check, at no extra cost to you.
Additional Fee Payments
CAS details show payments made toward your tuition or accommodation fees up to when you approve your draft CAS. Don't make any further payments until you have received your Student Visa. If you must pay more to meet visa requirements, include receipts with your visa application. We won't update your CAS with these payments, and making changes could risk a visa refusal.
