The Hunterian is lending 24 of its famous Glasgow Boys works to a major international exhibition in the Netherlands.
The Glasgow Boys: Pioneers of Scottish Painting will be on show at the Drents Museum in Assen from 20 September 2015 until 7 February 2016.
This will be the first Glasgow Boys retrospective outside the UK for over 100 years and focuses on the late 19th century period when the group of young Scottish painters influenced artists across Europe and the world.
The Glasgow Boys features over 80 paintings and 40 works on paper, including loans from several Scottish museums.
The Hunterian is home to one of the most important and extensive public collections of Glasgow Boys works in the world and will lend a combination of 24 paintings and drawings to the exhibition.
These include Poppleton by Sir James Guthrie, Autumn Sunshine by Edward Arthur Walton, A Trout Rising by Joseph Crawhall, Two Geisha Girls by Edward Atkinson Hornel and Contemplation (Moonlight in Tunis) by Sir John Lavery.
In return, The Hunterian will receive two works by Netherlandish artists on loan from Drents Museum.
Landscape at Rolde, Drenthe by Julius van de Sande Bakhuijze and Portrait of his Mother by Theo Molkenboer will be on show in the Hunterian Art Gallery later this year.
