Hunterian Director Steph ScholtenSteph Scholten, Director of The Hunterian at the University of Glasgow, has been appointed to the board of Museums Galleries Scotland, the National Development Body for museums and galleries in Scotland.

Museums Galleries Scotland announced his appointment today along with that of Mary Jane Brouwers, non-executive director for the University of Glasgow’s investment subsidiary, GU Holdings Limited.

Steph Scholten, Director of The Hunterian, said:

‘I have experienced in previous jobs how important a role professional bodies like Museums Galleries Scotland can play for the museum sector. It will be a privilege to use that experience to help further the interests of museums in Scotland.’

Ray Macfarlane, Chair of Museums Galleries Scotland, said

‘I am delighted to welcome Steph and Mary Jane to the Board of Museums Galleries Scotland. With Steph’s extensive museum sector experience and knowledge and Mary Jane’s strong financial background and board experience, I am confident that they will play a significant and positive role in our work to develop Scotland’s museums. With Lucy Casot now in post as CEO this is a very strong start to 2019 for Museums Galleries Scotland.’

Steph Scholten and Mary Jane Brouwers took up their roles on 1 January 2019.
