JUST TOUR Seminar Series: A justice turn for tourism? Divergences and synergies in the conceptualisation of justice in tourism research

Our next seminar will be Thursday 7 November 2024, at 9.30am (GMT / UK Time).

In a world of stark social inequalities, political unrest and changing climates, struggles over resources and capital in tourism dominant regions are of increasing concern. In response, justice has emerged as a galvanising concept, given its usefulness in prioritising concern for fairness and equity. In the turn to justice, however, tourism scholars have taken a number of diverging lines of conceptualisation and argumentation, with the relationships between these divergences not always considered. This seminar, the first in the newly established JUST TOUR series, will explore these multiple lines of inquiry, considering both what they each hope to achieve, as well as the extent to which they might be brought together to lobby for justice in tourism dominant regions.
