Join us for three days celebrating the creative contributions of people of colour, hosted at Civic House, Glad Cafe, and Glasgow Film Theatre!

The festival will celebrate both our collective identity as PoC and the intersectionality and diversity of our stories, cultures, and art forms, with contributions from University of Glasgow staff, students, and an array of incredible artists and practitioners!

Supported by Thinking Culture, School of Culture & Creative Arts and curated by Dr Zahra Khosroshahi and Dr Kevin Leomo.

 

Performances/Screenings:

Balfour Reparations – Civic House, 7.00-9.00pm, Thursday May 8.
Join Farah Saleh for performance lecture which investigates ways of confronting the United Kingdom’s colonial legacy in Palestine. The performance is 40 minutes in duration, followed by 40 minutes Q&A. This event is free, but ticketed.

Kapil Seshasayee + Intibint – Glad Cafe, from 8.00pm, Friday May 9.
British-Tamil performer Kapil Seshasayee plays his only Glasgow gig of the year, with support from Yemeni artist Intibint; followed by a DJ set from Arusa Qureshi in the Glad bar until late. This event is ticketed: £15 / £12 / no one turned away for lack of funds.

Film Screening + Q&A – Glasgow Film Theatre, from 6.00pm, Saturday May 10.
An evening of films: The Nobody (2024, Dir. Madhoon), A to B (2018, Dir. Tajik), and Akasha (2018, Dir. kuka). Following the screening, Razan Madhoon, Iman Tajik, and Umloda Ibrahim will join Zahra Khosroshahi in conversation.

Crafting Home Through Plurality of Language Workshop – Civic House, 2.00-4.00pm, Friday May 9.
Poet, writer, and arts programmer Jeda Pearl will lead a PoC-only workshop exploring ways we craft, carry & create home.

All-Ages Screening Printing Workshop – Civic House, 11.00am-1.00pm, Saturday May 10.
Join Sapna Agarwal for an all-ages, PoC-only screen printing workshop – bring tee-shirts, tote bags, or anything you’d like to screen print on!

Gomo Kimchi Workshop – Civic House, Saturday May 10.
Eddie Kim’s workshop will explore how food is an action; it is how we communicate, like poetry, it is how we say the unsayable. Kimchi is an act of preservation, and Gomo Kimchi is a preservation of our family story and a way to share it with our community here in Glasgow and the places we call home.
