COVID-19 update: current and prospective students
As the COVID-19 pandemic unfolds, we are constantly making decisions to mitigate the impact. The safety and wellbeing of our students is central to every decision we make.
We recognise that you may have questions about how the situation affects your students who are currently in Glasgow, as well as those planning to come to Glasgow in the next academic session.

Student support
Even before the 24th March, when the UK introduced a lockdown on public movement, the University had taken steps to drastically reduce the number of staff and students on campus, closing the University library and other student service facilities, including the health centre on campus. Medical support is continuing to be provided at local community health centres.
This has not stopped the University continuing to provide full support to its current students, those still on campus and those who have returned home. Teaching is taking place remotely, academic staff and professional staff are still in touch with students on a regular basis, and students can access support services via our website and online learning platforms.
While the University has largely moved to remote working, rest assured our support teams are fully functioning and will continue to provide support, guidance, teaching and supervision to your students.
Student residences
Our University Residences are still open for students who wish to remain in Glasgow, albeit the students are following social distancing guidelines. Students who require to stay beyond their contracted period will have the option to do so. Regular communications are going out to students, including details of refund arrangements for students who have chosen to leave.
Visa extensions
The UK Government has already announced visa extension options for students who are unable to return home due to COVID-19.

English language pre-sessional courses
Our English language pre-sessional courses are now available online and, in recognition of the difficult circumstances that students are facing and the new format of teaching, all pre-sessional course fees are being discounted by 20%. Students can take part in courses which are designed to prepare them for their study programme and/or to achieve English language entry requirements.
Academic session start date
We are currently reviewing the start dates for all our courses for the next academic session and will confirm these dates later in May. Given that social distancing may be around for some time to come, we will be looking at the need for some degree of blended learning in the first semester of next academic session.
