International Stakeholder Summit

We welcomed 23 of our senior partners from our network of international recruitment stakeholders to participate in roundtable discussions with senior colleagues from across the University.

In April, attendees were welcomed to campus by Rachel Sandison, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (External Engagement), followed by an engaging and topical panel session with Charley Robinson, Head of Global Mobility (Universities UK International), Catriona McCarthy, Chair (British Universities International Liaison Association) and Jenny Fernandes, Director of Recruitment and International Relations (University of Glasgow).

The International Stakeholder Summit provided an excellent opportunity for our partners to find out about how the University of Glasgow is working with our industry partners to ensure our students are prepared to meet the needs of businesses across the world.

We shared how our research impacts society locally and globally and the opportunities this creates for our staff and students. We also welcomed Nadia Ness, Executive Director of Transformation at Glasgow, to share more about the work being undertaken by our dedicated transformation team and how it is driving positive change across our university community.

Rachel MacSween, Director of Partnerships and Stakeholder Engagement (International) at IDP Connect commented that "the Summit was a unique opportunity to lift the lid on a lot of the aspects that make Glasgow such a special place to study. I also appreciated being able to share insights from across the IDP network and engage with senior staff from the University about our shared ambitions for future collaboration and growth."

The highlight for many attendees was hearing directly from our international student panel about their experiences of studying in Glasgow and how we can ensure that we continue to work together to support many more Future World Changers choosing to study at the University.

Head of International Stakeholder Engagement, Shonagh Maak said, "It was wonderful to bring together this senior group of partners on campus for this inaugural event and discuss the shared opportunities and challenges facing all of us in an ever-changing international student recruitment landscape."
