European Network on Climate & Health Education (ENCHE)
The healthcare sector contributes 5% of global emissions while managing climate-related health impacts. Medics play a key role in tackling these challenges and promoting sustainable healthcare.
The European Network on Climate & Health Education (ENCHE) aims to create a collaborative network of medical schools across Europe to integrate climate, health, and sustainability into medical curricula across Europe.
ENCHE launch
The European Network on Climate and Health Education brings together 38 medical schools, to equip medical students with the knowledge and skills they need to response to the impacts of climate change on human health and deliver more sustainable healthcare.
Through this network, we aim to train at least 10,000 students across participating universities with the latest scientific and educational resources over the next three years, by
- embedding climate, health and sustainability into medical curricula;
- sharing best practices and creating educational resources on these topics; and
- advocating for climate, health and sustainability standards with key stakeholders, including with accreditation bodies.
ENCHE is working in close partnership with the Global Consortium on Climate and Health Education (GCCHE) as a regional network.
It is supported by the Sustainable Markets Initiative Health Systems Task Force, a public-private collaboration between global pharmaceutical and healthcare company CEOs and leaders committed to accelerating the decarbonisation of health systems.
