Learn more about the Urban Retrofit project, led by the UK Collaborative Centre for Housing Evidence (CaCHE), which aims to challenge outdated planning models and break down barriers to transforming cities—helping them adapt and thrive on the path to net zero.
The website for the new UK Collaborative Centre for Housing Evidence (CaCHE)-led Urban Retrofit project website is now live. Funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) this project aims to challenge outdated planning models and break down barriers to transforming cities—helping them adapt and thrive on the path to net zero.
With the built environment contributing 25% of the UK’s greenhouse gas emissions, Urban Retrofit focuses on retrofitting not just buildings, but entire urban areas. The project investigates key challenges and successes, developing a framework and toolkit to guide planners, developers, and communities in cutting energy use, lowering emissions, and promoting sustainable living.
The website will be regularly updated with blogs from the project team—who are based at universities across the UK and internationally—along with project updates and more throughout the duration of this exciting work.
