Reunion photography - how to show off your best side
Are you organising or attending a reunion or alumni event? We love hearing the stories of your reunions and sharing them with the UofG alumni community. For images with impact that will bring your stories to life, consider some of these simple tips.
1. Be aware of what is in the background of your picture. Is there a plant or a lampshade growing out of someone’s head? Make a few adjustments with positioning and your picture will be cleaner and have more impact.
2. For large groups, try and arrange the subjects so that light will fall evenly on them, and think about using stairs or chairs to give a variety of heights and avoid one long line of people standing in a row.
3. Consider using a selfie stick or a tripod as this will give you support and reduce camera shake.
4. Ensure that your subjects are aware that their photo may be published on the alumni webpages and/or on social media and give them the opportunity to opt out of being photographed.
5. If possible, send your pictures as jpg attachments rather than embedding them in the body of an email, which can reduce their quality.
Don’t forget to send your photo(s) to alumni@glasgow.ac.uk.
