The University of Glasgow has once again been named among the world’s top 100 universities in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings.

The University placed 87th overall in the 2024 rankings, performing particularly strongly in the categories of Research Quality and International Outlook – ranking 32nd and 30th in the world respectively.

This marks the fifth year in a row that the University has been ranked within the top 100. We have also maintained our position within the top 10 in the UK and are ranked second in Scotland.

The Times Higher Education World Rankings are the most comprehensive set of rankings in Higher Education and include 1,904 universities across 108 countries and regions. Trusted worldwide by students, teachers, governments and industry experts, the rankings give an annual review of the global higher education landscape.

Sustainability success

In the QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2024, Glasgow has been placed 20th out of 1,403 institutions.

The QS World University Rankings: Sustainability is a major global indicator of how universities are taking action to tackle the world’s greatest environmental, social and governance issues.

These results put the University of Glasgow in the top 2% of all universities covered by the rankings for its social and environmental sustainability performance. They also mean the University is ranked tenth in Europe and sixth in the UK.
