During the Adam Smith tercentenary week in 2023, the Hunter Foundation funded three events.
The Hunter Foundation Lecture Series formed part of the University of Glasgow's Adam Smith Tercentenary celebrations which marked the 300th anniversary of one of our most famous alumni, whose pioneering work has had a lasting impact on how the world considers economics, politics and society.
The events in the series touch on what Adam Smith would say about the state of globalisation.
The event features:
- Angus Deaton, Professor of Economics and International Affairs at Princeton University
- Gita Gopinath, First Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund
- Cecilia Rouse, president of the Brookings Institution and former Chair of the Council of Economic Advisers (CEA)
Each event discussed how Smith's work can influence our world today, offering a different insight into his ideas.
