Travelling to Glasgow
The University of Glasgow website offers information on getting to Glasgow by air, rail, coach and road. Keep in mind that if you are coming by air, there are three airports that are convenient in order of proximity to Glasgow and the conference location: 1) Glasgow International Airport, 2) Glasgow Prestwick Airport, and 3) Edinburgh International Airport, all of which operate also low cost flights. For those of you participating in the post-conference weekend trips to UMIS museums in the rest of Scotland, particularly the Aberdeen trip on Sunday 17th June, you might want to check the possibility of a return flight from Aberdeen airport (to save you travelling back to Glasgow).

Kelvin Hall Transport and Parking
Walking
Kelvin Hall is situated opposite the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum on Argyle Street and is easily accessible on foot. It is a 20 to 30 minute walk west, along Sauchiehall Street, from Glasgow’s city centre. In addition to using Google Maps, you can also find your route to Kelvinhall or download an App from walkit.com.
Cycling
Kelvin Hall is immediately opposite Kelvingrove Park, which forms part of the Kelvin Walkway and links to the Glasgow Loch Lomond Cycleway and the West Highland Way. The venue can be easily reached by bicycle from bikes paths through the park or Argyle Street.
Renting bicycles is easy using NextBike, Glasgow’s bike hire scheme.

Public Transport
Kelvin Hall is well connected by public transport.

By Subway
The Kelvin Hall is 5-7 minutes’ walk from Kelvinhall subway station. Upon exiting the station, turn left and walk eastwards along Dumbarton Road, which turns into Argyle Street upon crossing the bridge over the Kelvin River.

By Rail
Kelvin Hall is a 15 minute walk from Partick Rail Station, which is serviced by numerous rail lines including those that run through Queen Street Station and Central Station, both of which are located in Glasgow’s city centre. Information on rail links can be found on the ScotRail website.
Upon exiting Partick Station, turn right and walk along Dumbarton Road, following it eastwards until it turns into Argyle Street after crossing the bridge over the Kelvin River.
By Bus
Kelvin Hall is well connected to the local bus network. The nearest bus stops are immediately outside the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum (for travel eastwards, towards the city centre) or next to the South Gate entrance to the University of Glasgow (for travel westwards).These stops are served by various bus routes:
- First Bus services 2, 3, 77 and 370 (see timetables and network map for more information).
- McGills service 17
- Stagecoach services X76, X77
Although the different public transport operators have their own season tickets, SPT offers a Zonecard, which is a flexible season ticket for unlimited travel by rail, Subway and most buses.
Bus timetable information is available from the different public transport operators, as well as from Google Maps. In Google Maps, clicking on the bus stop reveals an overview of the different bus services from that stop. A further click on the service number shows a timetable.
By Car
Kelvin Hall is situated on Argyle Street, around 6 minutes from the M8.
For parking, there is a pay-and-display car park at the rear of the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, which is opposite Kelvin Hall. The current charge is £1 for a 4 hour stay. The car park also has 10 spaces reserved for blue badge holders, which are free of charge and do not have a time restriction. There is also on-street parking (pay-and-display), and a 114-space car park on Bunhouse Road alongside the Kelvin Hall building where the following charges apply: 0-4 hours £1, and 4-10 hours £2.50. There are blue badge spaces close to the entrance of Kelvin Hall on Bunhouse Road, and on-street parking where standard charges apply.
The closest taxi rank is located on Blantyre Street, next to the Kelvin Hall.

Kelvin Hall is wheelchair accessible. Although some routes through the building have limited access, alternative paths provide access to the building’s different spaces. See the main Reception and Information desk, or ask a member of Glasgow Life staff, for maps of accessible routes through the building.
The conference will take place in the Lecture Theatre and Seminar Rooms 1 and 2, which are located on the ground floor towards the back of the building. Upon entering Kelvin Hall, follow the long corridor near the main information desk until the very end. The Lecture Theatre and Seminar Rooms are at the very end of the corridor, to your right.
