Accommodation
Those joining us at Universeum 2018 are responsible for organising their own accommodation. Most of the conference sessions will take place at Kelvin Hall, 1445 Argyle Street, G3 8AW, in the West End of Glasgow, near the Finnieston area (check also the venues part of the website which includes a map of key conference locations), with the Thursday evening reception only in the city centre (George Square).
Accommodation in student Halls of Residences
There is a limited amount of student accommodation rooms available for conference delegates to book in these two University of Glasgow residences: Kelvinhaugh Gate and Cairncross. The bookings for these can be made through the University of Glasgow Accommodation Office online booking system where delegates can check availability and book themselves.
Cairncross House - Located at 20 Kelvinhaugh Place, Glasgow, G3 8NH, Cairncross is about 10-minutes walk from Kelvin Hall. It is ideally situated for Glasgow city centre and the West End. The residence is a comfortable and affordable option for those looking to visit the city, with each room comfortably furnished with its own wash-hand basin. Guests at Cairncross have access to shared bathroom and kitchen facilities, with the shared kitchens being well equipped and include all cooking implements, crockery and cutlery. All linen and towels are provided and guests also have access to laundry facilities. Additionally, all bedrooms in Cairncross have telephone access, Wi-Fi internet and data points for laptop connection. On-site facilities include a TV/games room, bike shed and free off-street parking.

Kelvinhaugh Gate - Located at 115 Kelvinhaugh Street, Glasgow, G3 8PY, Kelvinhaugh Gate is about 10-minutes walk from Kelvin Hall. It is less than a mile from the Univeristy of Glasgow Campus and is approximately ten or fifteen minutes' walk via Kelvin Way to the Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery. It is equally well situated for Glasgow city centre and the West End.
Kelvinhaugh Gate is split into self-contained flats with each flat containing five lockable bedrooms. Each bedroom has its own wc & shower and access to a kitchen/dining area within the flat. The shared kitchens are well equipped and include all cooking implements, crockery and cutlery. All linen and towels are provided and guests also have access to laundry facilities Additionally, all bedrooms have telephone access, Wi-Fi internet and data points for laptop connection. Kelvinhaugh Gate also has a number of common facilities on site include free off-street parking, lockable bike store.
