Learn what gives pigments and dyes their colour, the University of Glasgow
Dr Paul Garside from the School of Culture & Creative Arts, Univeristy of Glasgow, will briefly look at what gives pigments, dyes and inks their distinctive colours, and think about how these colours are used in artworks and historic objects.
Presenting a simple experiment involving a coloured image in a window. After a fortnight, compare the exposed and unexposed halves, and look at which colours have changed the most. This will be used to discuss how light can damage objects, and what can be done to prevent it.
