Creel to Meal
Creel to Meal was a public engagement project created by GSF director Dr Deborah McNeill to help share the outcomes of a research project looking at improving creel catch selectivity in the Nephrops fisheries. The research project was undertaken by Drs Deborah McNeill, David Bailey and Nicholas Beavers from the University of Glasgow in partnership with the Scottish Creel Fishermen's Federation.
Creel to Meal ran two foodie events showcasing high quality cookery using the Nephrops and the bycatch from the creels. One was a four course meal at Stravaigin, and the other was posh scampi at Drygate. There was also a stand at the Kelvingrove Museum family day during GSF 2015 replicating the research method using a paddling pool and toy fish. These events were funded by the Year of Food and Drink coordinated by Event Scotland.
