Gomo Kimchi Workshop with Eddie Kim

Part of the Creatives of Colour Festival, May 8-10, 2025.

"Gomo" means paternal aunt in Korean, and Gomo taught me to make our family kimchi. My mother taught me to cook Korean food. In their honour, Gomo Kimchi makes small-batch, handmade kimchi and serves Korean comfort food out of our shop in Govanhill. Food is an action, it is how we communicate, like poetry, it is how we say the unsayable. Kimchi is an act of preservation, and Gomo Kimchi is a preservation of our family story and a way to share it with our community here in Glasgow and the places we call home.

Creatives of Colour Festival

The festival centers the voices, experiences, and creativity of people of colour in Glasgow. Storytelling sits at the heart of these creative practices, and celebrates the resilience, joy, and talent of PoC artists. Co-curated by Zahra Khosroshahi and Kevin Leomo.

Our stories. Our lens. Our terms.

This event is presented by ‘Thinking Culture’, a cultural programme from the School of Culture & Creative Arts, University of Glasgow.
