The Induction & Transitions team within Student Learning Development are happy to announce our inaugural Induction & Transitions (I&T) Symposium on Thursday, 29th May in the James McCune Smith Building. The symposium is an opportunity for colleagues in academic and services roles across the University to share experience and good practice in supporting student transitions into, through and out of the University. Read more and register for the symposium.
With an ever-diversifying student body and evolving institutional contexts, we can often face new and widening gaps between students' starting points and our expectations. How can we best support successful transitions across these gaps? The I&T Symposium aims to address this question by providing a platform for us to share our practice, learn from one another, and work towards a more cohesive approach to enabling successful student transitions. We invite you to join this important conversation by attending the symposium and/or contributing to it in one of the following formats:
- Show (40 minutes): Provide hands-on experience of a transition activity you offer, such as working through a resource or engaging in a workshop activity.
- Tell (20 minutes): Share an example of your transitions work through a presentation, such as a case study or a reflection on practice.
- Host (40 minutes): Facilitate a discussion on a specific aspect of student transition.
We invite you to access the full call for contributions , forward it to interested colleagues, and register for the symposium. Do also contact the Induction & Transitions Manager directly on stuart.purcell@glasgow.ac.uk if you have any further questions.
We hope to see you there!
