Speaker: Dr. Elin Haf Davies
Elin Haf Davies started her journey as a sheep farmer’s daughter in Wales and went on to become a children's nurse. She didn't stop there—she earned a BSc, MSc, and PhD and now has ~20 years of experience working to develop new and emerging drug treatments for rare diseases in children.
Elin's work with children and young people with chronic illnesses inspired her to make sure their voices are heard in the drug development process. She founded Aparito, a med-tech company that uses wearable tech and apps to allow studies to be carried out anytime, anywhere, enabling patients and their caregivers to participate in research at the clinic and home. Aparito was recently acquired by Eli Lilly & Co.
Elin is also an adventurer at heart. She has rowed across both the Atlantic and Indian Oceans and sailed across the Pacific and Atlantic, spending a total of 204 days at sea. Her adventures have raised significant funds for charities close to her heart and have been a platform to raise awareness about rare childhood disorders. Oh, and did we mention, she has also played premiership rugby, competing at international level for 5 years!!!
Join us online via Zoom on March 6th at midday to hear Elin’s incredible journey, learn what motivated her to start Aparito and her thoughts on moving into the corporate world.
