Scotland has been home to many pioneering women geologists whose important work has been instrumental in furthering our understanding of Earth’s processes. Despite this, the history of geology has largely been told through the accomplishments of men, and many women have gone unacknowledged and their contributions have been lost to history.

Join curator Katie for this Friday Focus talk where she’ll explore the lost stories and scientific achievements of some of the pioneering women who have contributed to The Hunterian’s collections.

'Women on the Rocks' is co-produced by The Hunterian and members of the Geo Natter research group.

The Friday Focus talk programme features a different speaker each week, sharing a deeper insight into our exhibitions and collections, and work going on behind the scenes at The Hunterian. We hold the talks every Friday at 1pm online over Zoom. Talks are approximately 20 minutes long with time for questions afterwards.
