A one-day workshop and complementary contemporary art exhibition that will explore the influence of infection across visual culture, social dynamics, and medicine.
Bringing together researchers from sectors including art history, virology, medical visualisation, the history of medicine, and visual art, the workshop will facilitate interdisciplinary knowledge exchange surrounding notions of the Covid-19 virus and others.
With a program that prioritises curiosity over conclusions, the workshop will comprise a conversational panel discussion, artist talk, collaborative visualisation and analysis activities, and will conclude with an informal social hour. This will allow participants to feel encouraged to explore their research connections through a variety of methods and access points—drawing awareness to the network of relationships between sickness and meaning-making, social and institutional shifts, and artistic representation.
This project is supported by Thinking Culture funding 2023-24, awarded to PhD student Christiana Myers.
