The Centre for Sustainable Solutions in collaboration with the Scottish Graduate Schools for Arts and Humanities (SGSAH), Social Sciences (SGSSS) and the College of Science and Engineering Graduate School are excited to host a hackathon for PhD students, aimed at providing ‘green’ solutions for indoor spaces of the University of Glasgow’s new Advanced Research Centre (ARC). More info below, sign-up form (deadline extended to 22nd August 2022) here: https://forms.gle/y6XbfUNuGN5G4tuz6.
The Mazumdar-Shaw Advanced Research Centre (https://www.gla.ac.uk/research/arc/) is a recently constructed, £116 million building with new collaborative working spaces to help inspire cross disciplinary research that innovates and solves society’s most pressing challenges. There are exciting opportunities for plants to enhance the current working environment in the ARC, while also providing co-benefits such as better air quality, reduced volatile pollutants, wellbeing and cultural and artistic engagement.
We are seeking PhD students from across Scotland and across all disciplines who are interested in learning more about the indoor greening challenge and willing to work in a multidisciplinary team to design solutions to greening the indoor spaces of the ARC. The Greening the ARC Hackathon will take place across 3-days, Sept. 13th to 15th, in the ARC.
The Hackathon will involve provocations from experts to promote thinking from across different disciplines and sectors and support meaningful co-creation of new ideas. The event is designed to foster experiential skills journeys and enhance networks for post-graduate and early career researchers.
If you are interested in taking part in the Hackathon, please complete the following form by 5pm on Monday 22nd August 2022. If you have any queries, please contact sustainable-solutions@glasgow.ac.uk
