We are delighted to invite you to join us on Burns Night, Tuesday 25 January 2022 for a virtual celebration of Scotland's National Bard, Robert Burns, entitled The Art of the Burns Supper.
Global Burns
Date: Tuesday 25 January 2022
Time: 18:00 GMT - 19:00 GMT
Venue: Online
Category: Public lectures, Academic events, Alumni events
Website: app.geckoform.com/public/#/modern/FOEU03e613a9mybh
This event will mark the end of a two year project, researching the history of Burns Suppers and mapping these events in the 21st Century. It will also include the unveiling of a specially commissioned piece of artwork by David Mach, which so many of our alumni community helped to create by submitting images of their own Burns events in 2021.
The artwork will be unveiled as the centrepiece of a Virtual Reality exhibition, created as part of the `Burns Beyond Reality` collaboration between the Centre for Robert Burns Studies and immersive learning platform Edify. Come and experience the story and legacy of the Burns Supper as never seen before, including a trip to Alloway Kirk as Rabbie imagined it in `Tam o' Shanter`.
Concluding the event will be a lively Q&A session with our panel of experts including: Professor Gerry Carruthers, Dr Pauline Mackay and Dr Paul Malgrati. You will also hear from the esteemed Dr Clark McGinn during the course of the night.
