Ceilidh (19.15-23.30, Wednesday 12 September 2007)
A ceilidh (pronounced KAY-LEE) will be held in Bute Hall, University of Glasgow, on the first evening of the conference. This is an informal social event where people dance to traditional Scottish music. Ceilidhs are great fun and have been very popular with delegates at previous conferences held at the University. A "caller" explains each dance and gives people a chance to walk through the steps before the music starts. Participation is strongly encouraged!
A buffet meal will be served during the interval.
Free drinks at the bar from 19.15-20.00. Paying bar after 20.00 hrs.
Music will be provided by the band 'Coila'.
Donal Brown, well-known piper will welcome the delegates and guests on arrival. Donal also plays in the band Breabach, one of the most talked about new acts on the Scottish folk scene.
Civic Reception (19.30 hrs, Thursday 13 September 2007)
Glasgow City Council are hosting a Civic Reception for conference delegates. To be held in the Banqueting Hall in the Council's City Chambers in George Square, the Reception will be a perfect prelude to an evening when delegates are free to explore the City's night life.
