The conference is being organised by the Department of Urban Studies at the University of Glasgow, one of the UK's largest centres of research and teaching on urban issues. The Department is at the forefront of research in a number of areas, including: city competitiveness, neighbourhood regeneration, social justice and housing.  It was awarded a "5" rating in the last Research Assessment Exercise (2001).

A wide range of individuals are involved in organising the various workshops of the conference. In addition, overall co-ordination is provided by a committee comprising the following individuals, all based in the Department of Urban Studies:
