General Information for Delegates
Conference Location
The main base for the conference is the Western Infirmary Lecture Theatre (WILT), off University Place, University Avenue. Workshop Sessions are located in WILT, Wolfson Medical School Building (WMSB) and Boyd Orr Building. The Ceilidh is being held in Bute Hall, Main University Building (map of conference area).
Photocopying Facilities: it is regretted that no photocopying facilities are available at the conference.
Internet/Email Facilities: it is regretted that no internet/email facilities are available at the conference base. NB: Please note that no emails can be sent or checked using any of the Workshop Session PCs.
Cloakroom Facilities: there are unstaffed cloakroom facilities in WILT. Please note, however that the Conference Organisers do not accept responsibility for the personal belongings of delegates.
Travel
The University of Glasgow is in the West End of the City, within easy reach of main air, rail and coach terminals, and is well serviced by public transport (see below). Journey times are dependent on road conditions and density of traffic.
Glasgow Airport: 13 km/8 miles from University; c.20-30 mins via car/taxi. There is a frequent inter-connecting bus service between Glasgow Airport and the centre of Glasgow.
Central Station: 4km/2 miles from University; c.15 mins via car/taxi
Queen Street Station: 4km/2miles from University; c.15 mins via car/taxi
Buchanan Street Coach Station: 4km/2miles from University; c.15 mins via car/taxi
Bus Services: a comprehensive local bus service operates between the City Centre and the University area in the West End.
Underground Rail Service: this operates within Glasgow from Monday to Saturday, with a reduced service on Sundays. Passengers should alight either at Hillhead or Kelvin Hall Underground Stations for the University of Glasgow.
