Lisa Harrison

 Lisa Harrison is a Southern California native, graduating in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts with Honours from the University of California, Santa Barbara.  In 2004 she moved to Scotland for the fine weather and to study at the Department of Scottish Literature, where she completed an MPhil with Distinction, entitled "Eric Linklater: Engaging the Scottish Writer in Magnus Merriman and The Merry Muse."  She has recently completed Research Assistant work on the upcoming Carnegie Trust project, 'The Letters of James Currie', edited by Dr. Gerard Carruthers and Dr Kenneth Simpson, and is the recipient of a Carnegie Trust for the Universities of Scotland Research Grant to view and transcribe select Muriel Spark correspondence.

Her PhD research focuses on aspects of cosmopolitanism and canonicity in Scottish fiction, post-1950.  Further academic interests include Scottish genre fiction and contemporary approaches to Scottish canonical writers, especially Robert Burns. 

Lisa tutors for the Level 1 Scottish Literature course and is a committee member for the upcoming Department of Scottish Literature conference, Spinning Scotland (September 2008). She is currently applying to the Higher Education Academy of the UK as an associate practitioner.
