Professor A. Lin GOODWIN
A. Lin GOODWIN (葛文林) is the Thomas More Brennan Endowed Professor of Education at the Lynch School of Education and Human Development, Boston College. Previously she was Dean of the Faculty of Education at the University of Hong Kong (2017-2022), and Vice Dean at Teachers College, Columbia University (2011-2017), where she also held the Edward Evenden Professorship in Education. Professor Goodwin served as AERA Vice President—Division K: Teaching and Teacher Education, 2013-2016.
An internationally renowned teacher education scholar, Professor Goodwin’s research examines teacher/teacher educator beliefs, identities and development; equitable education and powerful teaching for immigrant and minoritized youth; comparative analyses of international teacher education practice and policy; and the experiences of Asian/Asian Americans in U.S. schools. She has been recognized for exemplary research by AERA’s Committee on Scholars of Color, and is the National Institute of Education (Singapore) inaugural Dr. Ruth Wong Professor of Teacher Education. In 2022 she received a Spencer Foundation Mentor Award honoring her work with emerging academics and doctoral students. She is an AERA Fellow and the recipient of Division K’s 2023 Legacy Award for her “significant and exemplary contributions to the field of teaching and teacher education.”
Professor Ann E. Lopez
Ann E. Lopez is a Jamaican-born professor of Educational Leadership and Policy at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto. Professor Lopez currently serves as the Director of the Centre for Leadership and Diversity, and Special Advisor to the Dean on School and Community Partnerships. Her academic career also includes position as Provostial Advisor Access Programs, University of Toronto (2017- 2023) contributing to policy development and programs concerning issues of access, and Academic Director Initial Teacher Education (2013-2016). She is currently professor Extraordinarius UNISA, South Africa and visiting professor Kwame Nkrumah University Zambia. Dr. Lopez’s teaching and research explores school leadership praxis broadly across contexts, decolonizing educational leadership, decolonial methods and approaches, school leadership in global south contexts and the impact of coloniality.
An author, speaker, mentor, advisor, researcher, former classroom teacher and school administrator, Dr. Lopez advocates for embedding equitable, antiracist, and decolonial praxis in all aspects K-12 education and schooling – teaching, learning, and leading. She has shared her work at conferences local and globally, and as a keynote speaker. Dr. Lopez is the author of several books, her most recent books include Decolonizing Educational Leadership: Exploring Alternative Approaches to Leading Schools and co-Edited book Decolonizing Educational Knowledge: International Perspectives and Contestations. Dr. Lopez is co-Editor-In-Chief of the Journal of School Leadership and Co-Series Editor; Studies in Educational Administration and has been recognized for her contributions to education. In 2020 she received the OISE Award for Distinguished Contributions to Teaching, in 2022 the University of Toronto Award of Excellence and Jus Memorial Human Rights Prize – Influential Leader, and in 2024 the OISE Award for Excellence in Educational Leadership and OISE Alum Mentor of the Year Award.
Professor Aileen Kennedy
Aileen Kennedy is Professor Teacher Education at the University of Glasgow where she also joint directs the Centre for Transformative Change in Schools. Her work focuses on the activist and transformative possibilities of teacher education and professional learning. She recently led the Scotland-wide measuring Quality in Initial Teacher Education project and is a Managing Editor of Professional Development in Education. Aileen has worked previously in two other Scottish universities and prior to that worked as a Professional Officer with the General Teaching Council for Scotland as a primary teacher.
