Scotland: the fat, sick man of Europe
Guest Speaker: Jennifer Logue
Last century Scotland was famed for its high levels of heart disease and general poor health. Much of this was related to socio-economic deprivation and lifestyle factors. Life expectancy in parts of Scotland mirrors that of war zones. Now Scotland has a new crown: the most obese country in Europe and third only to the USA and Mexico. This talk will discuss some of the factors that these twin epidemics of heart disease and obesity share, reasons Scotland is so susceptible and work on possible solutions.
