Short Description
This course will expand and increase your knowledge of the current techniques, developments and research in the field of plastic reconstructive surgery and will enable you to provide evidence-based care in areas including breast surgery, head and neck surgery, skin cancer, and other related topics.

Applicants must also have:
Professional qualification and current membership of a health care professional body e.g. General Medical Council, Health Professionals Council, Nursing & Midwifery Council.
Candidates must be currently involved in patient care and with the ability to gain experience in caring for patients with burns or requiring plastic surgery.
Applications are welcome from people with alternative qualifications than a degree. Each person's application will be considered on an individual basis and people may be asked to produce evidence of continued professional development.
Applicants will normally be interviewed as part of the selection process.

Burn Injury: Adults and Paediatrics (Graduate Certificate) 20 credits
Principles of reconstructive plastic surgery and burn injury care (Graduate Certificate) 20 credits
Assessment
Students will submit a 2500 word assignment examining a current clinical issue.

Course Aims
The course will increase the practitioners' knowledge of the current techniques, developments and research in the area of plastic reconstructive surgery
The course will enable the practitioner to provide evidence based care.
Intended Learning Outcomes of Course
By the end of this course students will be able to:
1. Appraise current research in the treatment with plastic and reconstructive surgery for adults and paediatrics with trauma injuries and disability.
1. Appraise current research in the elective treatment of people requiring plastic and reconstructive surgery
1. Evaluate the physical, psychological and psychosocial impact of disease, trauma and subsequent plastic and reconstructive surgery.
1. Identify and evaluate the long term, multi-professional management of patients undergoing plastic and reconstructive surgery.
