Short Description

This course offers students the opportunity to build on their existing knowledge base of paediatric respiratory and cardiovascular medicine. Students will have the opportunity to learn from paediatric specialists who will suggest a focused and practical approach to commonly encountered paediatric problems

Course Aims

The aim of this course is to provide participants with an evidence based approach to further develop their knowledge of common paediatric respiratory and cardiovascular problems.

Intended Learning Outcomes of Course

By the end of this course,  students will be able to:

■ Critically appraise common cardiovascular/respiratory problems, and their management , in the neonatal period and throughout childhood

■ Apply critical evaluation, analysis and synthesis to the management of paediatric patients with acute or chronic respiratory problems.

■ Critically appraise the management of patients with life limiting conditions in the context of chronic respiratory problems

Minimum Requirement for Award of Credits

Students must submit at least 75% by weight of the components (including examinations) of the course's summative assessment.
