Short Description
This course is a Gaelic language immersion course which can be taken as part of Gaelic Immersion Cert HE programme. This course will develop knowledge of the contemporary Gaelic community and will encourage the development of transferable skills by fostering individual research, presentation and self-reflection initiatives.
Timetable
1x2 hrs of workshops and 1x3hr of placement per week over 10 weeks as scheduled on MyCampus.
Requirements of Entry
B1 level on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) or equivalent knowledge of Gaelic.

Assessment
1x5 minute oral presentation on a Gaelic community project/immersion experience (20%)
1000 word critical essay on language learning experiences (30%)
1000 word reflective report on Gaelic community project (30%)
Portolio of 5 digital artefacts focussing on Gaelic community and immersion experiences (20%)
Course Aims
This course aims to:
■ Enable students to critically reflect on a range of Gaelic literature
■ Enable students to write and speak with a high degree of accuracy and fluency in Scottish Gaelic
■ Encourage the development of transferable skills through individual research, presentations and self-
reflection initiatives
Intended Learning Outcomes of Course
By the end of this course students will be able to:
■ Communicate with a high degree of confidence and precision in written and spoken Gaelic, in a range of registers.
■ Write a reflective journal in Gaelic on the Gaelic community experience.
■ Write a critical review in Gaelic on a subject of their choice.
Minimum Requirement for Award of Credits
Students must submit at least 75% by weight of the components (including examinations) of the course's summative assessment.
