By successfully completing school placement, student will demonstrate appropriate competence in meeting aspects of the standard for provisional registration

Assessment
Students will be observed throughout their placement in seminars, learning observations by the school experience tutor and school mentor and will be jointly assessed against the standard for provisional registration on a Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory basis

Course Aims
This course provides students with opportunities to undertake the following within a school context:
To establish a critical understanding of the current curriculum, policy and practice
To establish a confident understanding of their roles in constructing effective cycles of teaching, learning, assessment and evaluation
To ensure the students understand confidently the link between effective teaching and learning, children's attainment, achievement and wellbeing.
To develop a critical understanding of the current religious education curricula, policy and practice in schools, including Catholic and other faith schools.
This course enables students to fully satisfy the key elements of the Standard for Provisional Registration. It is also designed to meet the requirements of the Guidelines for Initial Teacher Education Programmes in Scotland. The specific ILOs below are underpinned by the Standard for Provisional Registration.
Intended Learning Outcomes of Course
By the end of this course students will be able to:
Demonstrate an in-depth and critically-reflective working knowledge of Curriculum for Excellence.
Demonstrate independent planning and implementation of educationally effective and fully coherent cycles of teaching and learning in all areas of the curriculum
To demonstrate a commitment to the wellbeing of all learners, ensuring a safe and secure environment that values the emotional, social and intellectual needs of all children.
Demonstrate the professional values, professional knowledge and understanding and professional skills and abilities necessary for the Provisional Standards of Registration in Scotland
Minimum Requirement for Award of Credits
Satisfactory award for School Experience and have achieved at least 90% attendance on school placement.
