Short Description
The course aims to provide the postgraduate student with academic knowledge and clinical skills to enable them to develop their skills in diagnosing endodontic problems and to provide appropriate treatment to endodontic patients. During the course, students will learn how to diagnose endodontic failure and how this can be treated by non-surgical or surgical means.

This course is made up of tutorials, seminars and practical sessions which take place in semester 2.

Course Aims
This course aims to provide the postgraduate with academic knowledge and clinical skills to enable them to assess the needs, treatment options, and deliver appropriate immediate and subsequent treatment for patients with complex endodontic treatment needs.
Intended Learning Outcomes of Course
By the end of this course students will be able to:
1. Critically evaluate appropriate holistic patient care for patients with endodontic problems.
2. Critically evaluate the biological basis of endodontic failure and the clinical challenges of endodontic treatment.
3. Critically evaluate/discuss of the principles of periradicular surgery.
4. Assess innovations in endodontic practice and critically appraise guidance provided by manufacturers and retailers.
5. Describe and evaluate care systems for delivery of endodontic care.
6. Critically evaluate the literature pertaining to the management of complex endodontic needs.
Minimum Requirement for Award of Credits
Students must submit at least 75% by weight of the components (including examinations) of the course's summative assessment as well as pass the clinical skills competencies.
