Short Description

The course aims to provide the postgraduate student with academic knowledge and clinical skills to enable them to develop their skills in diagnosing endodontic problems and to provide appropriate treatment to endodontic patients. During the course, students will be asked to demonstrate a range of clinical and technical skills relating to multidisciplinary patient treatment care.

Course Aims

This course aims to provide the postgraduate with academic knowledge and clinical skills to enable them to assess the needs, treatment plan, and organise appropriate immediate and subsequent treatment for patients requiring endodontic treatment and also, to assess the needs, treatment options, and organise appropriate subsequent treatment for endodontic patients requiring support by other dental specialties

Intended Learning Outcomes of Course

By the end of this course students will be able to:

1. Critically discuss the restorative considerations of root canal treated teeth.

2. Apply the technological processes involved in the restoration of endodontically treated teeth.

3. Critically discuss and apply techniques in the management of endodontic disease in the primary dentition.

4. Describe and critically evaluate/discuss the principles of emergency and subsequent treatment in dento-alveolar trauma.

5. Critically evaluate/discuss the principles of diagnosis and treatment planning of periodontal-endodontic interfaces.

Minimum Requirement for Award of Credits

Students must submit at least 75% by weight of the components (including examinations) of the course's summative assessment as well as pass the clinical skills competencies.
