Short Description

The aims of this course are: to introduce the orthography, phonology and grammatical structure of the early Gaelic language; to develop awareness of the historical development of the Gaelic language in its earliest written forms; to provide a reading knowledge of the early Gaelic language; to introduce the student to early Irish prose.

Timetable

Class will meet for 1.5 hours twice weekly in semester 1, and 1.5 hours once a week in semester 2.

Assessment

The mark for this module will be determined on the basis of class exercises throughout (35%), general preparation and participation (5%), and a class test at the end of each semester (30% each).
