Short Description
Crowdfunding represents an important area of fintech related to capital-raising activities. This course is designed to help you to critically analyse the key theories, concepts and principles of crowdfunding and related areas of fintech eg. token issues. The course also considers practical tools of analysis and decision-making models in the areas of crowdfunding and token issues. The course will be a mix of lecturers and seminars incl. works in computer labs using excel.
Timetable
Lecture: One 2-hour every 2 Weeks for 10 weeks.
Workshop: One 2-hour every 2 Weeks for 10 weeks.
A number of asynchronous activities will be available for students online incl. quizzes of each week material
Requirements of Entry
Normally a grade D3 or above in Finance 2, or equivalent.

Course Aims
The aims of this course are
■ To introduce students to the area of crowdfunding and related areas eg. token issues.
■ Enable students to analyze the factors of success of crowdfunding campaigns and use these capital-raising methods in practice for their employers and their own entrepreneurial firms.
Intended Learning Outcomes of Course
By the end of this course students will be able to:
1. Explain the importance of crowdfunding for entrepreneurial firms.
2. Analyse and interpret information related to crowdfunding and token issues using both qualitative and quantitative tools (eg excel).
3. Analyze and optimize the entrepreneurial decision-making process related to crowdfunding eg. conduct the analysis related to the choice between crowdfunding and other capital-raising strategies.
4. Produce sustained written arguments on a variety of theories of crowdfunding and token issues and their applications.
Minimum Requirement for Award of Credits
Students must submit at least 75% by weight of the components (including examinations) of the course's summative assessment.
