Alma Mater: 10 years of World Changing Giving
Alma Mater: 10 years of World Changing Giving
On 4 July 2023, the University of Glasgow hosted donors and friends of the University in the iconic East Quadrangle for the unveiling of Alma Mater.
Created by artist and alumnus, Jephson Robb, Alma Mater is a sculpture that expresses the power and potential of our philanthropic community to effect positive change. This impressive artwork also recognises the individuals who have generously contributed to the University of Glasgow over the last decade and whose donations have transformed the campus, powered ground-breaking research and helped students to realise their potential.
On the evening, Principal of the University of Glasgow, Professor Sir Anton Muscatelli, reflected on the far-reaching impacts of philanthropy and gave his personal thanks to those who have helped make the University of Glasgow truly world changing.
Dr Dan Keenan of Glasgow’s Widening Participation team then shared some insights into his experience of working directly with our students and scholarship recipients before Jephson Robb spoke on the inspiration behind the sculpture.
As well as being an opportunity to enjoy the magnificent new addition to the East Quadrangle, this historic event also marked the beginning of a year-long celebration of world-changing giving at Glasgow. Over the next 12 months we look forward to shining a light on the many ways in which our donors are building a better future for our students, our colleagues and Glasgow’s global community.
