This session will train you to respond to demand-led calls, in which funders and government bodies call for research to address specific policy problems in a short time frame. These calls account for an increasing percentage of UK research funding and are a key avenue for achieving policy impact. In this session, College Research and Knowledge Exchange lead Sarah Weakley and Political Economy Futures Forum Impact lead Maha Rafi Atal will explain what demand-led research is, what policymakers are looking for and how to use your research expertise to meet these calls. In this applied session, attendees will work together to develop rapid responses to a real demand-led call for climate policy research and learn skills for responding to calls on a range of policy topics. Coffee/tea and lunch will be provided.
