China has set itself the goal of peaking carbon emissions by 2030 and net zero emissions by 2060. The UK has set itself the target of reducing carbon emissions by 68% compared to 1990 levels by 2030 and to net zero emissions by 2050. Both countries have made some progress using an ecological modernisation approach involving comprehensive climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies.

But what, if anything, can the two countries learn from one another? In this research seminar, four speakers discuss this question from different disciplinary perspectives using examples from either or both countries.
