Global Health & Environment Leadership Team

The GHE IRT leadership team has extensive leadership and research experience: including leading research grant applications and managing the successful delivery of research projects funded by International, National, and Internal funding agencies. Team members have assisted National and International funding agencies to prioritize research themes for research calls, undertaken grant evaluation, and participated in moderation panels. We also have an editor-in-chief of a multidisciplinary journal within the team, and other team members are journal editors or reviewers, which will provide opportunities for training within the publication sphere.

Josephine Adekola headshot

Dr. Josephine Adekola

Senior Lecturer in Strategy Communication/Science and Technology Policy at the Adam Smith Business School with expertise in risk communications strategy, addressing inequalities, and community engagement. She is a Strategy and Technology Management Research Cluster member, an Associate of the School of Health and Wellbeing, and an Affiliate Researcher at the Cogito Epistemology Research Centre.

Dr. Michelle Bloor

Senior Lecturer in Environmental Science and Risk at the School of Social and Environmental Sustainability. Her research focuses on chemicals, waste and pollution. She is the Research Director for Scotland’s National Centre for Resilience, Senior Fellow of the University of Glasgow’s Centre for Public Policy and Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry.

Lucy Pickering Headshot

Dr Lucy Pickering

Senior Lecturer in Medical Anthropology at the School of Social & Political Sciences with a long-standing interest in dirt. Her work spans from her undergraduate dissertation, ‘Dirt on a Yorkshire allotment site,’ to exploring the intersections of bodily excreta & infrastructure, to the concept of dirt in social sciences. She focuses on how dirt relates to human bodies, how we manage cleanliness, project these attributes onto others, & interact with hygiene infrastructure (or lack thereof).
