The University of Glasgow aims to cultivate and promote collaborative, creative, impactful and ethical research in AI to tackle grand challenges, and establish UofG as a leading institution in data science and AI. Supported by our Turing Network Development Award, our mission at Glasgow is to:

  • harness the diverse research in data science;
  • bring together and cultivate collaborations between the sharpest minds to do creative research,
  • give a platform to showcase our collaborative and creative research in and with data science
  • promote effective, impactful and ethical data science and AI contributing and delivering a better future;
  • find the gaps or areas of growth in our research agenda to initiate and strengthen research collaborations and knowledge transfer across disciplines, sectors, industries, public and government.

As a university we are committed to training the next generation of leaders with the necessary breadth and depth of technical and ethical skills. We are an inclusive environment that will:

  1. build capacity by attracting and training a bright and diverse next generation of research leaders in data science;
  2. support and promote careers at all levels by equipping the necessary technical and ethical skills through effective training;
  3. improve the pipeline issue of experts in data science through upskilling education, student employability and diversity.

Those interested in hearing more about the opportunities that this will help to deliver can sign up for regular updates at data@lists.cent.gla.ac.uk (via Sympa). The mailing list was created to bring together researchers from all four Colleges active in Data Science and the AI ecosystem, to share research opportunities and news, and overall further develop our expertise in this area.
