Welcome to the University of Glasgow
Induction
During welcome week, you will be invited to a range of events, all designed to help meet fellow postgraduate researchers and settle into academic and social life at the University of Glasgow.

Registration
Once you complete academic and financial registration, you will have access to the full range of PGR support available from the University.
Conducting your research
Initial stages
- Establish clear research objectives and methodologies with your supervisory team to create a firmfoundation for successful research
- Understand the format of regular contact, formal and informal, with your supervisors (what you can expectfrom each other and how best to work together)
Supervisory support
- Regular meetings per year (12 for full-time students; 6 for part-time students)
- Annual progress review with academic support to ensure you are on track and receive formal feedback onany changes required
Concluding and presenting your research
As you approach your submission date, your supervisory team and our Graduate School will guide you through the key stages of the thesis submission process.
- Notify your intention to submit
- Examiners’ approval and submission of doctoral thesis
- Viva examination
- Outcome, including agreement of any corrections required, if appropriate
