My Future Skills Award (College of Science and Engineering)
About the Award
The Award is an optional opportunity that you can take on top of your degree programme to help you develop and recognise skills and experience that you gain through extra-curricular activities. It's an exciting opportunity to develop new skills, become part of a community and stand out to employers.
Who can take part?
The CoSE My Future Skills Award is open to all CoSE taught postgraduate students.
What’s in it for me?
Taking part in the Award will:
- enable you to identify your current skills and those you want to enhance and develop outside your degree programme
- encourage you to find out about and engage with events and opportunities in CoSE and the University, to try new things and to grow in confidence
- provide recognition for your development outside your formal studies
- encourage you to reflect on your achievements and to articulate your experiences.
What do I need to do to complete the Award?
To complete the Award you must complete the following:
- an initial ‘where am I now’ exercise that will identify the skills you would like to strengthen and develop by taking part in the CoSE My Future Skills Award.
- a minimum of 3 activities, one form each pillar:
- My career readiness: plan and make it happen
- My community: making connections
- My skillset: know yourself
- a final reflective summary (‘where am I now?’) of the experience you have gained during the programme including the skills you have developed/enhanced (approx. 500 words).
